The Dick & Dave Show
Sounds cheesy but in fact a most entertaining evening. Dick Williams and Dave Wilcox are both members of the Essex A/V Group and Dick is actually the ‘Chair’ member. They both begin the evening with some back ground on their careers and explain the contrast of the equipment they worked with then to now. Good [...]
FCC Workshop: Sensor Cleaning DIY
This week FCC held a sensor cleaning workshop (for the brave), here’s a shot before any cleaning started. You can do this by setting to the smallest aperture (F22 in this case) and shooting against a pure white back drop.
I used a blower on the sensor which provided some improvements as seen in this image.
But [...]
Welcome Back Evening & 10’s Competition
Todays session centered on an an array of opening club tasks that include preparation of work for club competition, subscription fee payments etc. But, most interesting was the rundown of last seasons 10’s competition. 85 images were voted to the last 10 before again selecting the final 3rd, 2nd and 1st place. Basil our chair [...]
Panel Competition - 2 Themed Panels of 3
Update: The results from this competition have now been updated on the Farnborough Camera Club website for 2009
This was new this Print Panel Competition (2 themed panels of 3 prints), almost triptych like…the club displayed a selection of superb themed images most were exceptional. I had seen some of the images before, so members had [...]
Studio Session: Adv/Basic
This is Emma, she served as one of three superb models for us at the club session. Ken brought around his white background and Basil our session leader set it up with a couple of additional flash units to give that blown out white background.
I managed to get a few goodies for the evening, but [...]

The club annual print competition was held this week on the 2nd April 2009. All members were allowed to enter (2 open, 1 portrait and 1 creative print). Our judge for the event would be Tony Riley LBIPP
An interesting event indeed Tony never held back any punches telling it exactly how it was and how [...]
Photography into Art
A digital presentation considering the two disciplines, by
Graham Smith ARPS
Was not quite the evening I was expecting really, with images of all sorts being displayed/presented via projection. Perhaps I’ll leave it at that.
Encounter
In addition to A Scene In Venice I also submitted this image for the round 3 digital competition. I got a perfect 10, rah! What is it? It’s a shot of a halogen lamp behind the tress in fog, the reflection is not a lake or pool but rather the roof top of my car [...]
A Scene from Venice
I submitted this one through into the digital round 3 club competition and due to the weather and other commitments was unable to be there for the judges comment and the outcome.
Today the results are out and I find this image was awarded an 8.5 - I know, I should have got rid of all [...]
Studio Session: Basic
Well I did manage to get a shot of the models from the basic studio session. This shot has one flash RHS high, a model light to the left (and later a reflect below removed some of those shadows on the models face). I darkened the whole back drop to black as I don’t [...]
